The Minnesota Super Bowl Host Committee announced today its Know Before You Go campaign, an initiative that, with 83 days to go before Super Bowl LII, is focused on helping local residents and the expected 1 million visitors navigate in and out of downtown this February.

The Know Before You Go campaign focuses on several facets of transportation including arriving by air, using public transportation, traveling by car, using ride sharing and taxis, navigating the skyway system and identifying road closures leading up to and during Super Bowl Sunday.

A few of the highlights for residents and visitors alike include:

• Metro Transit is the best way to reach downtown Minneapolis with expanded schedules on key routes for local commuters and additional schedules for Super Bowl related events. That includes unlimited fan passes ($40 for unlimited rides on all buses, light rail and North Star from January 26-Feb 4), Gameday Passes ($30 – only those holding a Gameday Pass and an official Super Bowl ticket will be able to ride the light rail on game day) and All-Day Passes ($1-5, varies by time of day and day of the week.)
• Park and Rides located in Maple Grove, Blaine, Maplewood and Minnetonka will provide service every 30 minutes from 9:30 am-10:00 pm on January 27, January 28 and February 3. Cost per trip is $2.50 each way (exact change only), or you can use an all-day pass.
• Free Ride Buses: The Blue (Minneapolis) and Green (St. Paul) lines both provide access to U.S. Bank Stadium and travel along 5th Street in downtown Minneapolis.
• There will be road closures along Super Bowl Live on Nicollet. Starting Friday, January 19 through Wednesday, February 7, Nicollet will be closed to all traffic including buses. Starting Friday, January 19 through Wednesday, February 7, 8th Street will be closed between LaSalle and Marquette. Starting Wednesday, January 24 through Wednesday, February 7, 2nd Avenue/Grant Street will be closed in front of the Minneapolis Convention Center between 1st Avenue and 12th
• Streets closed around U.S. Bank Stadium from January 2 through February 11 include Chicago Avenue (between 4th & 6th Streets), 5th Street (between 6th & 11th), and Norm McGrew Place between 3rd & 4th Streets)
• Streets closed around U.S. Bank Stadium from January 27 through February 5 include 4th Street between Park Avenue and I-35W ramp.
• Streets closed between January 29 through February 5 include 6th Street between Chicago Avenue and 11th Avenue, and 11th Avenue between 3rd Street and 6th
• Downtown parking apps are recommended for finding parking by car.
• The skyway system will help you stay warm. Look for extended hours of operation, Super Bowl-related signage and volunteers, and extended access hours to all parking garages.

For Super Bowl Sunday, the Know Before You Go campaign includes:

• Game Time: Sunday, February 4, 2018 at 5:30 pm
• Game Day Fan Plaza (Minneapolis Convention Center) 12 – 2 pm
• Super Bowl LIVE on Nicollet – 12-3 pm
• Gates open – 1 pm
• Parking lots open – 11 am
• Parking permit sales will go on sale beginning Monday, December 12 at 8 am.
• Regular light rail service will not run on Super Bowl Sunday. Only those holding an official Super Bowl LII ticket, along with their gameday pass, will be allowed to board the light rail either Mall of America (Blue Line) or Stadium Village (Green Line). Green Line service will operate normally between Stadium Village and Union Depot in St. Paul on game day.
