The Mpls Downtown Improvement District held its sixth annual National Night Out Kickoff Event on Tuesday, Aug. 6 at the DID Pop-Up Satellite Office on Nicollet between 6th and 7th Streets.
The event offers a chance for the community to get together and meet with law enforcement and public officials. National Night Out has a three decade history of annually bringing the community together, and DID's Kickoff Event is a starting point for an evening that includes hundreds of NNO neighborhood get-togethers throughout the night.
The event included music, games, treats, giveaways, a basketball pop-a-shot machine and more. Minneapolis 3rd Ward City Council Member Steve Fletcher performed several songs from Minneapolis artists at the event. Other public officials and law enforcement members who came by to celebrate at the event included Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, Mpls Police Chief Medaria Arradondo, Hennepin County Sheriff David Hutchinson and Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman, among others.
