Great news for downtown workers, residents and visitors, the Nicollet renovation is almost complete. Streets and sidewalks are finished, planting continues and light masts are being installed. By November, all trees will be planted, furniture out, lights will be on and most of the new and restored artwork installed. Nicollet sidewalk cafes have been open throughout the summer and will stay open throughout the patio season.
MANAGING THE NEW NICOLLET IS A SHARED RESPONSIBILITY
The success of the new Nicollet depends on the involvement of a wide range of agencies and partners, including the city, the police department, downtown social service agencies, and commercial and residential property owners. The MDID team has been working with the city to finalize an ordinance and policy for the successful management of Nicollet. With our new livability team in place, and a new position dedicated to activating Nicollet, MDID is ready to resume our leadership role in Nicollet's daily operations.
