It’s finally spring in downtown Minneapolis and the newly renovated Nicollet is coming to life.

After several years of construction and a winter of lots of snow and snow removal on Nicollet, the new trees are blooming (200 + of them), the new bike racks are in use and the patio seating is back. This will be the first summer for the new Nicollet. You can expect to see lots of activity including the Farmer’s Market which returned to Nicollet on May 3rd and will be out every Thursday until October 6. Plans are in place for the Nicollet Makers Market, a unique craft market featuring local artists every second and fourth Wednesday from May 23 to October 10.  The annual Northern Spark Event, a late night arts festival is expanding to two nights, June 15 -16 and will be moving to Nicollet and The Commons. Check out a sampling of the activities at the Nicollet Springtacular from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on May 23.

Don’t forget to check out the Nicollet lighting system, including the Light Walk, Nicollet Lanterns and street light beacons.  These are key architectural and experiential elements of the new Nicollet. The Light Walk and Nicollet Lanterns bring light, color and movement into Nicollet Center, the busiest and most urban area of downtown. DID in cooperation with many downtown partners has developed a Nicollet Safety Plan to help ensure that the things remain safe and that downtown’s main street remains a top destination for downtown workers, residents and visitors.
